Case Studies

The short case studies below are examples of current or recent Projecting projects.

Banking System Replacement

Projecting supported a UK private bank in the selection and implementation of a new banking system. Projecting’s role included development of the business case, supplier selection, programme planning, test management, operational readiness, data migration, and implementation management. We worked with the client over a 2-year period to support the entire project lifecycle.

Investment Client Take-On

Projecting managed the client take on for a third-party administrator. This involved the implementation of operational processes, migration of data from legacy systems, implementation of new systems, working with the end client to outsource to the administration company, delivering all project activities; client reporting, fees, custody, operations, client management, client relationship systems, and dealing system.

Investment Banking Operating Model

Projecting supported a global bank’s UK subsidiary to become ready for Banking Reform. This included the definition and implementation of the Target Operating Model for the Investment Banking activities not permitted inside the ringfenced bank post 2019, with a particular focus on Middle Office activities and set-up and policies and procedures definition and implementation. The team supported the client over an 18-month period, from inception to post go live.

MiFID II

A third-party investment administration and custody services company required to document, assess and implement MiFID II impacts on their business. The company services wealth managers and family offices.  The provision of custody and administration has many different forms and therefore all aspects of MiFID II had to be considered.  Projecting initiated the operational processes gap analysis and worked with Compliance and with their clients to plan the delivery of solutions.

Bank Branch Application

Our client was a non UK domiciled private and corporate bank, seeking to establish a presence in the UK mainland through the set-up of a banking branch. Projecting supported the client on the regulatory application process, from building and approving the internal business case for investment, to defining a high level Operating model and drafting the initial submission documents for the regulator. The client was successful in its application and the branch went live within the agreed timeline.

Go-live... fully remotely?! Not something we would have recommended pre-2020. But with planning and clear communication lines, remote working is not a barrier to success. #projectmanagement

The ability of a project manager to escalate an issue can have a direct impact on project success. This short blog written by Projecting MD David Hamilton for @APMProjectMgmt discusses why it is important to escalate and how to do it safely. https://www.apm.org.uk/blog/why-is-escalation-the-last-resort/

Inspired by the essay by @pmarca and response from @shaylekann, I wrote this opinion piece in Spanish for @elespanolcom https://www.elespanol.com/invertia/opinion/20200505/apuntes-silicon-valley-reconstruccion/487571240_12.html

About Projecting

Projecting was founded in Edinburgh to help financial services organisations deliver projects effectively. We established our London presence in 2014 and a presence in Madrid in 2016. Since we started, we have continued to grow steadily relying solely on word of mouth and on building a good reputation for delivery. We just want to do a good job.
